Intel Core i5-12400F

ProsCons
+ Mainstream CPU with good price/performance– No integrated graphics
+ PCIe 5.0– Not overclockable
+ Supports DDR4 and DDR5
+ Comes with a good bundled cooler

If you do a lot of multi-tasking, photo and video editing and is looking for a mainstream CPU to pair within the range of a higher mainstream GPU (NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti or AMD RX 6800) or above, then look no further. You are on the right trail.

With this 6 P-cores 12 threads and none of that nonsense hybrid E-cores CPU, you can up your ante and gun for QHD on High settings without breaking a sweat. High refresh rate QHD is considered the golden standard for the gaming community. You can opt for beefier GPUs (e,g, NVIDIA RTX 3080) if you’d like more Ray Tracing effects in games like Cyberpunk2077 or even Ghostwire: Tokyo.

As far as Team Blue CPUs go, this is as far I’d recommend. Higher SKUs have E-cores in them due to the hybrid architecture for LGA 1700 socket and there are a lot of problems associated with the Efficient cores. Even if Intel has released microcode fixes does not mean developers will work on their older/backlog software titles/applications.

For higher power, my recommendation is to jump ship to Team Red.

See you when I see you.
